Spring Fever

Like I've mentioned before, I love this time of year. I don't remember usually being so excited for spring. I like it, but I like fall and winter better...though my feelings toward winter are different after this year! I'm in the spring cleaning mode. Not as severe as some, but it sounds like a good idea to clean my windows and those sorts of things. With our company over the weekend we cleaned the house. We moved furniture and the whole sha-bang. RJ is great at encouraging me to keep it this way and helped me do the dishes after our company last night. He's definitely not the type to make the woman do all the work, thankgoodness! I'm also in the process of going through my closet, which is always a big challenge because I have clothes in there that I haven't worn in years and are 5 sizes too small yet hold on to them. Why? I've given 2 bags of clothes away to friends recently and have one more bag to go (get ready Alisa!!). It feels good to get rid of stuff we don't need. Especially stuff I didn't need in the first place.

Garage sale season is quickly approaching and I get so excited for it, but I know RJ gets a bit nervous for it. I get a little crazy and buy too much of that $.25 junk. We're going to set a dollar limit per month this season and it's already helped my mindset. Alisa wrote a great blog on finances and it got me all excited thinking of ways we could cut back. Depending on my mood, some days it's fun to think of it as a game. How cheap can we live? Now THAT should be a reality show. I know a lot of us would do awesome! But some days it's depressing and I think of all my wants. I hate that money has to be in the equation. We don't want it to control us, yet it's our means of buying goods so it's a constant on our minds because I could just walk to Dahl's to get groceries or save $20 and go to Wal-Mart, but then I'd have to drive my car and spend money on gas, and on, and on.

Did you hear about how Hilary "misspoke" about her trip to Bosnia? Politicians scare me. I don't care how "right-winged" or "christian" they claim to be. It just makes the whole system look ugly. What's scary is that the media will catch these lies every now and then, but what about the millions they miss? And besides, don't you think you'd remember correctly if you were being shot at as opposed to having a nice landing and having a little girl read a poem to you? I'm sure tomorrow they'll be on to something else, but this one was pretty funny!
